This is interesting. Since the Gulf War in 1991, it has been widely reported that the ensuing sanctions caused the premature deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children. A new study casts serious doubt on that story, and concludes that Saddam Hussein falsified data provided to the U.N. which caused them to reach the errant conclusion.

This doesn’t change my mind at all that the 2003 invasion was totally senseless – in fact it probably bolsters my opinion a little bit – but it does make me question how the U.N. got fooled so badly.
