Okay, I know a lot of the stuff is food items, but I figure the people, the beaches and the country itself is a given. šŸ˜‰ (Not gonna mention the obvious stuff like Vegemite (which I can actually get at Zabarā€™s), sausage rolls and meat pies) Pollywaffles Eucalyptus lollies Those lollies shaped like milk bottles Solo soft drink Schweppeā€™s Lemonade Chiko Rolls A middie of New Big-headed Kookaburras laughing on the clothes line Fantales and Minties Salad sandwiches Tomato sauce Redhead matches Bert Newtonā€™s big olā€™ moon face Those tangy lifesaver-like lollies, I forget what theyā€™re called Twisties (crushing them between my fingers as a kid) Lime cordial they had in school Passionfruit Lamingtons Burgers from the Greek Coffee Shops where they pile everything on, including beets and pineapple! Musk Lifesavers Custard tarts Splice ice cream bar Paddlepops Frangipani and Hibiscus trees Throaties Iā€™m sure Iā€™ll think of moreā€¦ ---

I live in NYC, **Cerowyn**. If I really start jonesing, I can get some of those things on an Aussie Products website, which I do as an occasional treat. šŸ™‚ I guess the US uses corn syrup in their soft drinks cuz itā€™s cheaper than sugar. At least, I think thatā€™s whyā€¦ ---

My mother sends me an Aussie ā€œcare packageā€ every now and then. Tim-Tams are always at the top of the list, and i also like gaiety, mint slices, and iced vo-vos. I also really love Cherry Ripes, Polly Waffles and Chokitos. Maltesers are another favourite - they are better than any of the malted milk balls that iā€™ve managed to find in the States. And when i lived in Australia i often ate redskins, although thatā€™s not a particularly good title for a piece of candy, and it certainly wouldnā€™t go over very well in the US. I miss cricket, rugby, and Aussie rules. I donā€™t have cable, so i donā€™t get any of these, although iā€™m contemplating taking the plunge into cable or satellite TV just before the rugby world cup later this year. I really donā€™t miss Bert Newton, and i fucking hate vegemite. Iā€™ve never understood why so many Australians love it. Oh well, each to their own. {goes to the kitchen to get a Tim-Tam} ---

anyone tried the strawberry ripes? Iā€™m still eyeing them suspiciously. they didnā€™t oughta muck around with the perfect chocolate bar, the cherry ripe. I missed iced vovos and now I can buy them at whim, I never do. Kingston biscuits too. Theyā€™re good. ---

But they are still pretty good. Just donā€™t compare it to a Cherry Ripe. They are really good mashed with a fork and whipped into icecream. ---
