RE: 5 Digit phone numbers
Yep, my hometown was like this, too. I can remember many of the phone numbers from my childhood: 5-3631, 6-6724, 6-2972.
Grew up in northeast NJ, we had non-homogenized milk delivered by Ideal Dairy. We had a little tin box on our back porch the milkman put it in.
They had the world’s best slogan - “The Dairy With Cows.”
I miss REAL Schaeffer Beer - not the swill you get now. Used to be very dry and tart, last time I had it, it was blander than PBR.
I miss getting acutal full-size candy bars when trick-or-treating. Actually, I miss trick-or-treating - where I live, it has been taken over by churches, replaced with “Fall Harvest,” or some other tame variant.
