Stuff that took you too long to realize

Chick-Fil-A doesn’t rhyme with Godzilla.

Batteries (small appliances, not vehicular) - The flat end goes on the spring.
“+ side,” “- side,” who cares?! The flat end goes on the spring. Always.

If so, what is the difference between parking and standing?

Depends upon the municipality.
Some places define ‘standing’ as idling your car while occupied.

I didn’t know until recently that you can’t parallel park against the flow of traffic.

How do you pronounce it?

Think “chicken filet”.

On a lot of cars, including mine, there’s a U-shaped thing fastened to the inside of the little door that covers the fuel intake. It’s there to hold the gas cap while you’re fillling up. One does not, in fact, have to place the gas cap on the roof of the car.

I figured this out last year, and I hadn’t even been driving for 30 years yet. Another victory for my keen powers of observation. I’m pretty much like Sherlock Holmes, really.

Ah. I’ve read about it here, and in the news, but was doing the Godzilla thing myself.

Thanks.

Oh No, there goes Chicago!
Go Go Chick-Fil-A!

Chick Fill Ah. That never occurred to me. That would be a weird name, not that Chick-Fil-A isn’t.

The meaning of Faith when it comes to people’s feelings of religion.

also the true concept of the ‘holy ghost’

I also thought it was Chick- Fill-Uh, for years.

I thought the name was stupid when it was really me that was stupid.

Not that I had ever given it any thought, but one day I, not even thinking about it, I realized that submarine=underwater (sub/under marine/water). I think I might have been at a Quiznos or Cousins.

No, I still think the name is stupid.

It’s better to be lonely than to be with the wrong person.

Could you elaborate on this? I’m not getting it.

Obligatory “pineapples do not grow on trees, they grow on the ground in fields.”

(Which I knew since studying Hawaii in the fourth grade.)

The yeller in Old Yeller is a pronunciation of yellow, as in yellow lab. About a month ago I got that.

You don’t parallel park in a lane facing oncoming traffic. You should be pointed in the direction that you’ll be driving when you pull out of your parking space.
