I remember around 1990 when a law went into effect (in the US) requiring packaged foods to have nutrition information on them. LOTS of things reformulated their recipes and haven’t tasted the same since. Notably, Cracklin’ Oat Bran cereal, which was the most delicious substance on the planet. Now it just tastes like cinnamon. Crappy poo. ---

Sprite Remix ☹ It tasted just like the Japanese drink Ramune and was a hell of a lot cheaper and easier to find. And also another vote for Pudding Pops. Tried them again when the ‘re-released’ them a while ago but they didn’t taste the same ☹ Oh and Fruitopia drinks. How could I forget those?? ---

Carvel pistachio or banana soft serve ice cream. The Carvel stand on Atlantic Avenue near the Brooklyn/Queens border sold vanilla and chocolate all of the time and a third flavor occasionally. The closest I’ve come to the flavor of the soft serve Carvel is the frozen custard of South Jersey/Philly. ---

I know I’m not the only person on the planet who drank Mistic Coffee Cola in the mid-late '90s. Although, now that I Google it, I might just be! I found one hit using the phrase “Mystic Coffee Cola” that’s actually a post by me on this very website from 2003, and can only find one online reference to “Mistic Coffee Cola”, which is a Nutrition Action Heathletter from July-August 1995; it existed, dammit!! I think I’m the second person to mention Sprite Ice. I also loved Tropical Fruit 7-Up and I haven’t seen Mountain Dew Code Red in years. Fusion used to be one of my favourite chocolate bars. There’s something about the combination of caramel and toasted rice. ---
