# Stupid argument for Bush reading "My Pet Goat" (lame, outdated)

Who gives a crap? At the time, it was sort of relevant because it demonstrated that Bush’s instincts in a crisis weren’t great. I think it’s safe to say that we now have far more striking examples of that. Beyond that, his leaving that classroom eight minutes earlier wouldn’t have changed anything.

Please. If he was a Democrat he would have been crucified for it in the media. The only reason anyone even KNOWS about Bush is becasue of the Michael Moore movie.
The excuses for Bush are stupid. It was clear to me that he was sitting there waiting for someone to tell him what to do. There was no unseen strategery going on.
ETA agreed that this is way outdated, though.

In this case you are probably right. Specifically, the Secret Service probably told him that that they would leave in a certain period of time in order to check the route and make certain there were no _other_ surprises that day.
Of course, you are also a dumbass.

The Secret Service didn’t speak to him at all. We know everything that he was told while he sat there. It’s on video. Andy Card came up to him and whispered, “A second plane has struck the World Trade Center. America is under attack.” Bush asked no questions and said nothing back at all. Card walked away and Bush sat there staring into space until somebody finally came and dragged him out of the chair. Nobody told him to wait. There was no communication from the Secret Service. Just “America is under attack.”
I guarantee you, John McCain wouldn’t have just sat there. Neither would Clinton (either of them). Neither would Obama or Reagan or Bush’s dad (maybe Carter would have). It was not a shining moment for your boy, Bush. I don’t know why, at this late date, righties can’t just admit that.
Hell, we all admit that Clinton was a horndog now.

That’s because you silly liberals haven’t mastered the fine art of separating yourselves from reality. Once you do that, you’ll be able to argue with a straight face that Clinton was actually a virgin (and Chelsea sprung full-grown from his head ala Athena). I thought the inaction was only after the first plane hit, and at that time it was still conceivable that it was pilot error, instrument error, etc. Was it really 8 minutes of inaction after the second plane hit?

Yes, it was after the 2nd plane. He heard about the 1st plane in the limo on his way to the school. At that time they assumed it was an accident.

Right. He was too dumb to work out what was going on right under his nose. If he’d worked it out, he’d have demanded a share of the takings. All he was good for was to photograph well, so that all the new women voters would go for him.
