Hey, first Pit! I pit the moronic voters in Charleston who elected lying, cheating, stealing Mark Sanford into Federal office. It wasn’t even all that close. If I squint really hard I can sorta kinda possibly understand why they’d vote for him over a librul (even though I still think it’s moronic) but how the \*@#$ did he get through the primaries?!?! If I hear any person from Charleston complaining about lying politicians I will beat them with a empty sack of rocks, which will have more collective intelligence than Charleston voters. I was complaining about this in the presence of a conservative friend and he mentioned that Sanford’s opponent had done jail time and that’s why Sanford won. I couldn’t find any evidence that she had been to jail. So typical; when your side has a lying cheating candidate pretend the other side’s is worse. Oy. ---

I heard a news story that there were a lot of push polls going on, along the lines of, “What would you think if you heard that Colbert-Bush had been convicted of (something or other).” A whole bunch of ugly questions like that. It wasn’t a real poll, of course, it was a republican group planting ideas. Technically, they weren’t lying, except that they were. ---

Meh to the whole thing. What did you expect a bunch of conservative voters to do? Elect the person they’d be guaranteed to disagree with or elect the person who would probably vote the way they’d expect and desire most of the time? They voted for the person who best represents them. Now the Republican primary voters on the other hand, they’re a bunch of idiots. ---

Color me also unsurprised. He won by nine points in a district that the last Republican representative won by 26, so arguably his negatives _did_ affect his performance. And if Colbert Busch had won this election she would have been obliterated in the next general election anyway. ---

The closest I can think of is that lying bastard John Edwards; IIRC, he had already lost out in the 2008 Democratic primary by the time the worst of his crap really hit the news, leading good Democrats everywhere to wipe our foreheads and say “Whew!” If John Edwards gets the Democratic nomination (for anything) in 2014 or 2016, by all means, rake the party over the coals. Everybody already knew all about Mark “Appalachian Trail” Sanford by the time of the Republican primary election, but they still nominated him.
