Overweight women are a group of women that have definitely felt some of the most pressure of not fitting the idea of beauty in this society, no matter how much we blink innocently and say, “But on these boards, everyone loves the big gals!”. So, good on ‘women like pbbth’ and other women that proclaim that they are both big and sexy. I thought the the siam sam and evil captor shit was bullshit too, for the record, but I never commented, and I think a small reason for that is that I didn’t notice the comments coming out of the damn blue and almost immediately in a thread that they started on a totally different topic. The way it went down bemused me a bit, and I remain bemused. And now, to slam a race card on the table, as I am wont to do; Being ‘thick’ where I come from is extremely accepted, almost to the point of the ‘too thick’ girls being greatly desired. I realize this hasn’t really crossed over yet to mainstream American society at large, but I see it slowly trickling in, and I am happy for my white bigger sisters that are going to start enjoying some of the fun. Swing those big ol’ hips, poke out the big ol’ jugs and have a ball. As for sexualizing female body parts; you got me. I do that all the time, actually, to male and female body parts alike. ---

Hey, I love it when ANY woman can feel confident and sexy. Just be healthy. If you’re so large or so small that it’s unhealthy, you’re not doing yourself any favors. Whether you’re obese or anorexic, how sexy is a heart attack, diabetes or organ failure? Believe, me I’ve got my own issues…who doesn’t? Let’s all just shoot for a healthy size and be as supportive as a big, beautiful, cute, sexy three-hook bra, damn it! 😉 ---

I have many guys who give me the “after you” motion when getting off (and sometimes on) the elevator. I take it for what it is, which is a gesture of courtesy. I wouldn’t say they are assholes, (for trying to be nice? what??), maybe a little clueless as to how uncomfortable it was for you to move through them. The best response is what someone said upthread, which is just respond with a smile and say, “Oh, you guys are so sweet, but I think it would be much easier if you get off first.” Then you can smile to yourself about how much you turned them on with your double entendre. (That wasn’t a dig at you. I’d totally do the same thing.) ---

I thought of this thread when the only other inhabitant of the elevator today, a man, rocketed out in front of me when we were getting off on the same floor. Hmm, must not have heard about the etiquette rule, I thought. Or, since it was in the hospital, maybe it was a more emergent situation than mine. ---
