Like most laws that punish negligent behavior, the intent is to prevent the next tragedy, not the last one. ---

You presume incorrectly, as usual, given the intellectual limitations that keep you from recognizing any view that does not coincide with your own psychosis, widely shared though it is. No, cops do not always have guns ready to hand, at all times, available even to their own children, even off duty. But you’ll never get this stuff about the value of human life, will you? You can’t. That part of the brain that normal people have just does not work in yours. ---

Cops always have guns because we have these gun laws that put guns in the hands of every-fucking-body-and-their-sister. Most British police do not have to carry guns around everywhere because the Brits _have sensible gun laws_. ---
