Guy’s car gets stolen. Guy uses a tracking app to locate the car. Guy sees the apparent car thief getting into the car. Guy claims the car thief clutched at his waist, leading the car owner to fear that the thief was armed. Thus fearing for his safety, the car owner shoots the thief nine times. The thief turned out to be unarmed.

> Brandon Cauthen, 25, of O'Fallon, Mo. has been charged with armed criminal action and first-degree assault

Now, given: 1) that police can be excused for shooting anyone who poses the vaguest threat; and 2) that citizen crime fighters can go start trouble with people and then gun them down when the encounter goes bad (at least n Florida); then, the shooter in this case should be good to go, right? He’s been charged, but there’s little chance he’ll be convicted. Right? That’s the way it works?

Depends. Which of them are black?

In better news, a tip of the cap to Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), who has shown the rare ability to take NRA money and campaign as a hard-core gun nut,[but still turn against them](http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/politics/fl-florida-school-shooting-brian-mast-gun-politics-20180321-story.html). Still, let’s see what he does other than talk.

Oh, come on! That plays no part in how gun rights supporters see these cases. You know the NRA will dispatch Dana Loesch to defend the shooter any minute now. Sure, the shooter is a black guy, but he was defending his property and his life. Defensive Gun Use all the way! Come on, NRA! This is your wheelhouse. If Loesch is still too busy with the Philando Castile case, maybe Ted Nugent can handle this one. You can always count on the Nuge at times like this.

Yeah, I’ll be waiting for all the “Police fear for their lives cause a guy went for what could have been something, so they shot him” people to step right up and defend THIS guy, who faced the exact same situation. Right? He was entitled to shoot at the guy 9 times because he was afraid, right?

He left a witness. Big mistake. The police know better than to let a witness survive the incident.

"John Lott is, if not the most influential, certainly the most prolific “academic” in the gun debate. He has authored weekly columns in local newspapers on the horrors of gun free zones, published widely-distributed books on the ostensible benefits of right-to-carry laws, and his newest book The War on Guns has received rave reviews by prominent conservatives, like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Newt Gingrich…

Our own multi-year investigation into Lott and his organization has uncovered a startling array of new ethical violations, ranging from the profoundly bizarre to the outright fraudulent.

Here are just five of the most troubling incidents:"

I am concerned about the lost souls though. How did they lose their souls? Were they carelessly carrying them in their back pockets? Did the Nuge pilfer them? Is he a soul-reaper? Or just a soul-enthusiast? Either way he seems very interested in boy souls. [“I’ll take Boy’s Holes for 400 Alex”]

And like a lot of uber-patriots who were of draft age during Vietnam, Nugent was of the opinion that the draft was only for lesser beings than him. Terrible Ted was always a cowardly loud mouthed piece of shit. So of course he would attack kids. Remember, this “super patriot” was a pants shitting drat dodging coward. He thinks his right to blast shit to smithereens while dressed like some Village people version of “Small Soldiers” is his constitutional right, but he also thinks that these kids exercising free speech should be stopped. Or arrested?
