There was the person who recently bungled their sentence structure when they seemed to saying that they would save their grandchildren by killing them. I believe “them” was meant to refer to previously mentioned baddies, but it did not scan that way. ---

It’s not a medical article. This will be commonly understood by the average reader to mean “midsection.” Nobody expects a sentence like “He was shot in the duodenum.” ---
