But accidental shootings are usually due to incompetence or negligence. But then again so are most car accidents. The articles on this are pretty light on facts so we don’t know the circumstances. But we can be pretty sure that the gun didn’t fire while it had the safety on in a locked safe. ---

Some dude entered 345 Park Avenue in Manhattan NY on Monday and shot up a bunch of people with an M4-style assault rifle. In his parting note (as he also killed tie shooter) he claimed to have CTE and was pissed at tie NFL, although he failed to shoot up their offices, due to an elevator error.        The [best part](https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/30/us/nyc-shooting-investigation-shane-tamura?cid=ios_app), though, is that he bought the weapon from his boss back in Vegas, in what looks a lot like a straw purchase. The boss also sold him the car he used to get across the country. Apparently some things that happen in Vegas leak out of there a bit. ---

1500 ft — yeah, within effective range of many common rifle calibers. So, inadequate or no backstop for their targets (or else missing _ **really** _ high and off to the side). Some big brained marksmen there. ---
