Add to this the continued racist pandering that appears in their political campaign efforts and right wing communications (e.g. Willie Horton, “Harold, call me”, anything Rush Limbaugh has to say), and it’s clear that racism in the Republican party is more than just being attractive to extremist retards. So, don’t like being tarred as a racist? Do something about it other than whining about how unfair it is. (Of course, I’m talking to anyone other than Starving Artist. He’s irredeemably stupid.) ---

OK, at least I get what you’re saying now. Anytime anyone holds a political position, though, unless it’s entirely expedient and cynical, isn’t it because they believe it’s the ‘correct’ choice - that its long-term benefit to government and the people it governs is better than the ‘other’ choice? So, then, saying the ‘other’ side pretends a moral superiority is something anyone can say about the opposition at any time, and it becomes somewhat meaningless. ---

Plus the Southern Strategy was devised by only a small number of Republicans relative to the overall population and aimed at a small number of people relative to the overall population. Most of the country’s Rebublicans were not racist then and are not racist now. The fact that most Republicans are not racist explains the increasing success of blacks in Republican politics, and the more who see the light and run in the future, the more successful they’ll be. ---

The success of blacks in the Republican party depends upon their coming to the realiazation that they are welcome after all. The more who run, the more who will be elected. ---
