Besides, the gun control legislation wasn’t anything that would have helped anyway. He gave a very serious speech. He should follow that up with serious proposals to reduce gun violence, and Clinton should get on board. ---

Still waiting for Clothy to engage in honest debate, with cites, after suggesting that anyone who suggests the US has a problem with gun violence is a ‘stupid liberal’. Not holding my breath, though. ---

There are lots of countries with far higher per-capita murder rates than the United States. According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the US is 111th in rank, not even in the highest three brackets. The US stands out simply because so many of the murders it does have are by gun- hardly surprising given that guns are the first choice of murder weapon when available. If the US had no guns at all, would the murder rate go down? Almost certainly. Would _every_ murder committed with a gun have not happened? Almost certainly not. ---

Lies, damned lies, and statistics. There have been two cites made that seem to make an opposite case. Care to include a citation for the data you are claiming, so it can be evaluated? I suppose it’s optional, since this the Pit. ---

The report is here [Global study on homicide](https://www.unodc.org/gsh/) . You have absolutely no idea how cheap life is in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. There could be ten Charlestons a day and it wouldn’t put the U.S. rate anywhere near what Venezuela or South Africa have. Just because you, like Obama, believe at your core that the United States is the worst in the world at everything doesn’t make it true. ---
