Wait, you’re claiming that white American Mormons and Evangelicals are being marginalized and, presumably if they are under-represented in the Olympics, have historically been oppressed? Is that what you’re saying? Because that’s really fucking stupid. ---

Being underrepresented was his rationale for having a hijab-wearing Muslim as a flag bearer. I countered that with asking him was it really about having someone “underrepped” hold the flag, or did he mean to say “oppressed” instead, given that both groups are underrepped? Yea, I don’t think many Mormons have been at the Olympics repping America. ---

Here’s the [Mormon Olympians](http://mormonolympians.org/tag/2016-rio-olympics) site, with news from Rio. There’s also some historical info on LDS competitors. Not huge numbers here, but Mormons are a minority faith. They haven’t been reviled like the Muslims recently, but memories of persecution [have not made them fond](https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-partisan/wp/2016/08/16/trumps-pitch-to-mormons-falls-flat/?utm_term=.dc8c0d63ff72) of Trump. ---

There is nothing “un-American” about the hijab anymore than there is about yarmulkes or wimples, and your repeated special pleading doesn’t change that. And I’ve yet to encounter anyone seriously using the term “SJW” who wasn’t a tool. As for Muhammad carrying the flag, as I said: nice gesture if it happens, no biggie if it doesn’t. ---
