I fully understand why people would want to lobby an Electoral College elector into changing his mind, but the use of [death threats](http://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/in-the-know/308226-electoral-college-voter-gets-death-threats-over-vote) cannot possibly have any effect other than to further harden a Trump elector into voting Trump. ---

We have been assured that facts do not matter anymore by the highest authorities. What is important is that an elector FELT that he’d received death threats. I find it plausible that one or two nutjobs could have issued death threats. I also find it plausible that some people might lie about getting death threats to further their own agenda. I’m going to go stand next to **Chisquirrel** until something resembling evidence turns up before I decide whether this is of any concern. ---

Since this is the stupid liberal ideas thread after all, it’s amazing how many things liberals see standing in their way now that are structural: gerrymandering, Citizens United, the injustice of our federalized system, and now fake news. I guess it’s easier to complain about the rules that have existed for 225 years than to just persuade people that your policies are good. ---
