[No, there haven’t been 18 school shootings in 2018.](https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/no-there-havent-been-18-school-shooting-in-2018-that-number-is-flat-wrong/2018/02/15/65b6cf72-1264-11e8-8ea1-c1d91fcec3fe_story.html?utm_term=.e030b54f3b06) I’m as upset about the recent school school shooting and our inability as a nation to pass even the most mild efforts to prevent them, but it doesn’t help to promote statistics that are so clearly misleading. The true stats are horrific enough, they don’t need embellishment, and by promoting faulty statistics, we support the Trumpian notion that its all fake news. ---

The group responsible for it is bankrolled by Michael Bloomberg. ---

That’s another instance of this being the “liberal” idea thread which isn’t exactly the opposite of the “republican” idea thread. I don’t know Bloomberg’s views on social or fiscal areas, but he’s the prominent politician that comes closest to the conservative’s stereotype of the big government “nanny state” liberal. ---

Evidently, he’s a rare example of a socially-responsible conservative. He was a Democrat prior to getting elected mayor as a Republican and is currently registered as Independent. ---
