I knew someone who got a 1600 (and, @carrps, I don’t think that’s the perfect score anymore, but who pays attention). My recollection is that he often wore 3-piece suits to school. ---

I recall hearing a, perhaps apocryphal, tale of a machine shop that had to start using the term “fixture” because one of the workers there found the word “jig” offensive. ---

What percentage of this thread is devoted entirely to discussions of vocabulary words? Surely there must be Democrats doing actual stupid things out there (apart from Joe Biden’s periodic verbal hiccups). ---

Because this is the Dope, a jig is a subset of fixtures, where the cutting tool is guided by the jig. A drill press jig will have drill bushings for the drills to properly locate the hole. ---
