OK, here’s a serious response. The government is shut down. SHUT DOWN. If you haven’t bothered to read any of the hundreds of thousands of articles on it, I doubt my post will help educate you. But it means that, with the exception absolutely essential services, the Federal Government has come to a complete, total, grinding halt, putting millions out of work and affecting the livelihood of tens of millions across the nation if not world. No. You do not get to pick and choose which portions of government you personally would rather start back up because its shutting down happens to inconvenience you or insult your view on how the world should work. This includes the reopening of the WWII memorial. Maybe next time you think about how crappy the government is, you’ll remember the WWII memorial shutting down and think “oh yeah. I guess there are a lot of things the government does that I completely take for granted. Maybe I shouldn’t jump to conclusions like that.” But that’s next time. For now, the only thing you can do to get the barricades down from the memorial is to lobby your Congressman to get his or her ass back into session, pass a clean bill, and get the government up and running again. That’s it. How’s that for a legitimate answer? ---
