It’s not that liberals/Democrats **don’t** ever have stupid ideas, it’s that they’re so far outclassed lately by the conservatives/Republicans. The latter have become the New York Yankees of stupid.

Yes, the Republicans have the unfair advantage what with their demonization of science and all that other liberal book learnin’, and often legislate based on bronze-age mythologies. It’s tough to compete with that.

On the liberal side you have stupid ideas like “let’s fund homeopathic medicine!”, and other truly stupid things. But then a Republican comes up with stuff like “Raped women don’t become pregnant! Angels clench up their cooter pipes!” and “We must give assault weapons to fetuses so they can defend themselves against abortionists!”. It’s tough to remember the homeopathy shit.

And let’s be clear, it is lately. It wasn’t _always_.

Conservatives, guys, gals, there was a time when Republicans weren’t this batshit crazy. I seem to remember a guy who engaged in a war in Iraq that didn’t last a decade and won it decisively with only 458 coalition deaths total including friendly fire and accidents, and didn’t cost us a trillion dollars, and he even raised taxes when it was prudent to do so. And did so without making the US look like a bunch of inbred rednecks who just want to fight everyone, and pissing off the entire world.

There was a time when Republicans were serious about balancing a budget, and there was an actual balanced budget thanks in large part to Republicans under Clinton.

And then Bill waved his penis at an intern, and it’s been a mess of idiots ever since.

You can blame Bill Clinton’s penis all you like, but personally, I blame the Republican’s unhealthy fascination with Bill Clinton’s penis.

Bill Clinton’s penis has destroyed the Republican Party. I guess he really did have a slick willy.

Aha, but Pizzaguy, you’re talking about Bill Clinton’s penis. You’re the one with the unhealthy fascination.

No. Sadly, no, this is yet another example of Republicans being way, way too fascinated with the Clinton Monument.

[http://littlegreenfootballs.com/article/43015\_Rand\_Paul\_in\_a\_Time\_Warp-\_Bill\_Clintons\_Infidelity\_Should\_Be\_a\_Campaign\_Issue](http://littlegreenfootballs.com/article/43015_Rand_Paul_in_a_Time_Warp-_Bill_Clintons_Infidelity_Should_Be_a_Campaign_Issue)

That must have been some penis.

Way more massive than the other, Republican penises, which were also busy engaged in infidelity at the time, while their owners were busy condemning Bill Clinton for such unthinkable immorality. Google Republicans who had affairs while impeaching Clinton. Breathtaking.

It really was a bigger dick contest.

Since it’s just a penis-size contest anyway, I recommend in 2016 we vote for the candidate with the biggest penis of them all: Hillary Clinton.

Her penis is so big that she doesn’t feel the need to show it to everyone to prove how big it is.

Okay, peeps:

1. I was unaware there was another thread about this.
2. I’d only read the newspaper articles (although I’d read several of them from various sources), most of which repeated similar points as the link I posted.
3. Non-liberals need to stop posting in this thread saying “the only reason this thread isn’t as big as the SRIOTD one is because of board bias” and start posting some of these Stupid Liberal Ideas that they claim are rife. Most of the actual Stupid Liberal Ideas in this thread were posted by so-called liberals. At least I’m trying here.
4. Some of you people are total dicks.

+1

If the ratio of conservative-to-liberal on this board were 1 to 100, this thread would still be able to keep up with SRIOTD. Here’s how:

1. A conservative posts the latest stupid liberal idea of the day.

2. The 100 liberals come in and argue that it’s not actually stupid. Conservatives point and laugh. The more rational liberals are reluctantly forced to agree and/or add their own stupid liberal ideas of the day to be laughed at.

Post count may not be exactly the same, but if liberals were this dumb, there would be enough dumb ideas to sustain this thread regardless of the ratio.

Fact: 100 liberals still can’t stop you from posting their stupid ideas of the day.

An apt metaphor. Clearly the GOP has some overpaid douchebags who have been cheating at being stupid.

Bing bing bing we have a winner.

Besides, a lot of us have already said that we’re perfectly content to expose and ridicule stupidity on our side. It would be in our best interest.

I think it also (i.e. this is not the exclusive reason) somewhat reflects long-term marketing effects. Let’s start with the presumption that stupidity is more or less evenly distributed among the general population. Right wing radio, television and print found that there’s a profitable market pandering to morans. This created some sort of monsterous feedback loop, where statements qualifying for the SRIotD also qualify for positive press among the target demographic. So politicians, vying for a spot, focus their messaging to that audience. In time, that pandering was complemented by politicians making such political absurdities in earnest.

The left wing certainly tried to capture and play to the similar audience that just happened to align with that basic ideology. But for some reasons (including a combination of what was posted earlier), the attempts never came to fruition. Just as there are demographic favourites in food, taste in music, etc., there are tastes for such pandering.

Be that as it may, here is my entry for an actual SLIotD. It relies on some assumptions, of course, but it definitely mirrors ridiculed events in the other thread:

Gun law activist who pushed to make carrying guns in a school a felony, you guessed it, charged with a felony for [carrying a gun in a school](http://www.buffalonews.com/city-region/buffalo-public-schools/associates-defend-man-who-had-gun-in-school-20140207?x=y).

It’s kind of our responsibility to point out doofuses that don’t represent liberalism.

Al Sharpton for example- I don’t care what he said, it was probably batshit crazy. He might vote the same way as me but even a mentally deranged clock is right once on an election day.

As a gun owner, I cannot imagine carrying a gun safely on my person in such a way that I would forget it was there. If nothing else, even a fairly compact pistol weighs in the vicinity of two pounds.

Article says he had it in a holster, so I suppose if he was a really diligent wearer of it, he could forget about it the same way I’m not always 100% conscious of my cell phone and wallet in my pocket–but then, A) what’s the point of having it, and B) how is this the first time he’s forgotten?
