Actually, it should be “Ten Million”, shouldn’t it? “10 Million” just looks wrong. Also accepted: 10,000,000 ---

$10 million–no hyphen, no anchovies, no nothin’. At Penn State there is the Heitzel (sp?) Union Building, commonly called “the HUB.” Sure as hell, it gets mangled into “the HUB Building.” My personal pet peave is from baseball. RBI means “run batted in;” the plural–“runs batted in”–should also be RBI. Like deer–one deer, two deer, nine deer. But no, they (yes, THEY) call 'em RBIs, which I interpret as “runs batted ins,” which make no damn sense whatsoever. Added to the tragic fact that my baseball team is the Pirates, this really pisses me off if I allow myself to think about it. ---

You can’t be too careful with them ATM machines. First off, someone could be watching over your shoulder, and see your PIN number. Always be careful what PIN number you pick too–many people make the mistake of using something obvious, like their birthdays, their phone numbers, their SSN numbers, and etc. Plus, I heard that this one guy got the HIV virus from an ATM machine! (But then, when I posted that on the SDMB message board, they all laughed at me, and started talking about some guy named “Snopes”.) I don’t really like the SDMB message board–they’re kind of stuck up over there. I like the people I meet using my AIM instant messenger better. We chat and send each other IM messages. I use AOL on-line as my ISP provider–it’s so easy to use! I mean, I don’t see what’s wrong with a computer being easy to use. It’s not that I don’t know about computers–heck, I’ve been using computers since they all used the DOS operating system. I know the difference between RAM memory and ROM memory! I’m pretty smart all around–I got real good scores on my SAT test. But them folks over at the SDMB message board sure are stuck up. ---

Oddly, the New York Times crossword puzzle on Thursday was on this very theme. I saw that the theme had something to do with redundancies, saw a clue which was something like “notebook moniter” and my eyes lit up… LCD display! I was so proud of myself. I never get very far on the Thursday puzzles. Okay, so I celebrate minor victories. ---

Some people like to put beans in this dish but that really makes it something other than chili. Proper chili has no beans. Don’t get me started on vegetarian chili. ---
