Oh, come on, we all know the free market will weed out the bad doctors. If you die because your doctor is incompetent or negligent, the market will punish the doctor by causing his practice to dwindle (that is, assuming other people read his yelp! reviews).

Well., if the MD is\* bad enough\* their practice will dwindle even without social media!

Not as a cynical attempt to win votes, but because larger groups more closely represent the American people.

If they want to get back to that old time religion, polygamy seemed to be the preferred arrangement for most of the big names in the Bible: Abraham, Jacob, David, Solomon, etc. God is quoted several times as saying David was his boy, and Solomon, allegedly the wisest man who ever lived, had 700 wives and 300 concubines.

AFAIK polygamy was never prohibited in the Bible, although some verses may be construed as saying monogamy is preferable (St. Paul says celibacy is best of all, and nobody considers that a commandment).

About what? That he asked Walker, “please don’t sign the legalization of marijuana.” Which, of course, was not pending anyway. But the sheriff says he has never had an official-type conversation with Walker at all. Ever.

So what does Walker hope to gain by this? Is he just a pathological liar? Or is he trying to convince everyone that he is not really stoned all the time? Because, to convince me, I would have to see his blood-work.

Just days after Michelle Wilkins was stabbed while answering a Craigslist ad for baby clothes … her unborn baby girl Aurora killed, Klingenschmitt took to his YouTube show. “This is the curse of God upon America for our sin of not protecting innocent children in the womb – and part of that curse, for our rebellion against God, as a nation – is that our pregnant women were ripped open,” he said.

Other highlights from his mea culpa:
Despite apologizing for his “report,” he demanded retractions from several local media outlets for mischaracterizing his earlier statements. “I never said it was an act of God, I said it was a demonic spirit murder.”

Common sense tells people plants breathe oxygen ? See, here I thought that was high school bio classes. I guess “common sense” doesn’t tell us about deforestation or the impact of fossil fuels on the atmospheric equilibrium though.

And of course, only scientists and engineers accept evolution. I mean, that’s just common sense !

Common sense trumps scientific knowledge, everyone knows that, it’s just common sense.

That’s why I say, let’s just abolish the educational system entirely.

No schooling for anyone. You’re already born knowing everything you need to know to survive, and anything else worth understanding you’re bound to pick up on sooner or later.

Done deal, billions of dollars saved, children can enter the workforce at age 5.

That’s just common sense, people. Gall.

Whoa! Let’s not go overboard. I know from extensive experience that engineers tend heavily towards the woo, and now I have a study to back me up:

Oh, look, he posted a comment himself:

> [@](#):
>
> As I campaigned to be your State Senator, I pledged to limit the size and scope of government - by removing barriers and fostering a stronger patient-doctor relationship. . . Just a few months on the job, I am proud to say that I am hard at work removing one-size-fits-all Obamacare-style laws from the books in Alabama. However, some in the media and elsewhere are attempting to deceive citizens by using tired liberal arguments and falsehoods. Let me be clear: my goal is to make sure our Legislature stays in Montgomery where it belongs and out of the exam room. . .

From the original linked article:

> [@](#):

> Stutts’ bill, [SB289](http://www.alreporter.com/images/NEWphotogallery/pdfs/stutts/Alabama-2015-SB289-Introduced.pdf), {PDF warning} would also repeal a requirement that doctors, need to notify patients if dense breast tissue might prevent a mammogram from having accurate results.
>
> If a woman has dense breast tissue, there are alternatives to mammograms to detect tumors, but if a woman isn’t told, tumors could go undetected.

So the current law allows women to stay hospitalized after childbirth and mandates providing factual information … and Mr. Stutts is going out of his way to change those two things? 😕 :dubious:

At that age and the weight of a gun, it’s more like crawl your ground.

Well, as we discussed [before](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=18236559&postcount=20317) the earth being round was figured out by Galileo when he bucked the accepted scientific consensus of his day. :smack:
