I understand them trying to steer the conversation away from guns. I don’t agree with them doing so, but I understand, from their viewpoint, why they’d want to. But why are they so intent on denying the obvious explicitly stated (by the killer) racism of the incident? Is there some political reason for it? Are they emotionally invested in denying the existence of racism? ---

And their audience is largely of the ilk of “there’s no racism … I know I’m not a racist … why are blacks making such a big deal about this … everything would be better if they just shut up…” ---

Saying whites want to kill blacks doesn’t inspire fear in anyone who would likely vote for or contribute to the Republican Party. Saying atheists (or whatever) want to kill Christians, though… that’ll whip up boatloads of fear-votes and fear-bucks. ---
