I’m looking forward to the political talky shows this morning to hear the Republicans at their incoherent best!

Huh. Now bigots need a black friend AND a gay friend. Can it be the same friend, at least ?

I’m more interested in knowing \*how \*Inhofe comes to know so many gay people.

I presume he’s counting friends who are rabid homophobes that are secretly gay. Which also explains their position on the SCOTUS decision.

Well, Lindsey Graham seemed genuinely moved by what happened in S.C., and called for the confederate flag to come down, so no stupid idea there.
But Hukabee did compare those who refuse service to gay marriage to Martin Luther King and the civil disobedience of the civil rights era. So some genuine Stupid giong on there.

Maybe there is a required quota of stupidity and Huckabee has to make up for Graham’s lack of dumb arse comments.

Well there was this, which if not exactly stupid, is kind of being a jerk:

> [@](#):
>
> Graham said of President Obama’s speech at the service, “I don’t think he’s a very good Commander-In-Chief, but he did a very good job.”

Then again, I can’t be too hard on him after he said this on Meet the Press:

> [@](#):
>
> “What I want to do is protect the religious liberties of those who believe that opposing same sex marriage as part of their faith. So no I would not engage in the Constitutional amendment process as a party going into 2016. Accept the Court’s ruling. Fight for the religious liberties of every American.”

One of the more important talents a politician must have is the ability to find, or, if need be, create, wiggle room. While avoiding any real definition of limits. And I also am willing to fight for religious liberty, so long as that liberty includes a right to be free from religion as well. Perhaps a decal, a rainbow flag with the bar sinister, or a picture of Jesus riding a velociraptor and punching out a homo.

Some public indication of religious objection to service to people they deem to be morally objectionable persons. Which would serve the dual purpose of advising people who agree with that position and choose to support it, and people like me, who wouldn’t be caught dead there. If you believe it, and are proud of it, say so, publicly, on your front door. I’ll applaud your honesty as I stand outside your shop and wave my money at you, before I take it somewhere else to spend.

Rick Santorum: [Obama should spend the energy he’s expending fighting global warming on fighting to protect the rights of straight people.](http://crooksandliars.com/2015/06/santorum-obama-fight-gay-marriage-instead)

He also thinks Supreme Court justices should be elected, and that they should be forced to accept all appeals that reach them. Because that sure wouldn’t bog down the system, would it?

I am not quite clear on how the rights of heterosexuals have been infringed. Is it now a horrible thing, that we have to see gay people being gay? If that is so bad, what can we so in order to stop having to see christians being christians? (Or any other faith, for that matter.)

Just out of curiosity – what kind of platform would you expect a supposedly _impartial_ judiciary to run under? Wouldn’t this brilliant scheme actually cement the Supreme Court’s role as a massively influential but tiny legislature?

Also, since when is it worse to be drowning in the ghey rather than actual rising sea water?

Judging by the comments from the right-wing peanut gallery, the principle damage seems to be that bakers will be forced to sell wedding cakes to people they consider icky.

Just today I heard Huckabee spouting a bunch of strawmen such as pastors being forced to perform gay weddings.:smack:

It would be strangely appropriate to have straw men performing weddings for the friends of Dorothy.

They feel their religious liberties are infringed when they are required by the state to commit sin by issuing marriage licenses.

Leviticus also calls eating shellfish a hell worthy trespass, no word yet on how they feel about passing out Red Lobster coupons.

Oh yeah, I just read where someone quoted Leviticus, that a man who lies down with a man shall be stoned, and then arguing that was biblical support for legalizing weed.

Christians believe if they sell a cake that is used in gay wedding, they are guilty of a sin. It’s like if a Christian sells a gun that gets used to kill someone, they are guilty of murder.

That’s a thing, right?

These are the same people who would scream bloody murder if I refused to pay that portion of my taxes that supported the military, since I am against how they are being used. Or if I refused to replace their muffler because I didn’t believe in serving “Fake Christians.”

Rising sea water? Bah! We already went through that, and God promised He wouldn’t do it again! Besides, water evaporates; Hell is forever!
