[Fixed link](http://www.politico.com/agenda/story/2015/09/is-pope-francis-creating-political-problems-for-the-republican-party-000251). I think the much better takeaway from that interview is that every civilization ever has been made up of some kind of evil supervillains:

> [@](#):
>
> I think those are policy decisions based upon the economics and on what might be called pollution, but I would note that, from the dawn of time, every civilization since Adam and Eve has always tried to change the weather, not just observe the clouds, not worship the weather or the sun in that way, but they’ve always tried to change the weather. It’s in our DNA to try to change the weather, and so this current civilization that we are is no different than any civilization that’s ever trod the face of this earth, and we should be looking at sound science, yes. But I have looked at that science and it’s not compelling.

People didn’t want to change the weather they wanted to \*control \*the weather. Mainly so they wouldn’t starve.

Moron.

Not even that. Just predict it with some degree of accuracy (although I guess trying to calm down the God of Thunder so’s he doesn’t burn your shit to the ground could be seen as trying to control the weather…).

In all honesty, I kind of appreciate _his_ honesty. Let’s face it, that’s what every candidate is really thinking. It’s what I think about Republicans. Why do we expect them to mouth platitudes like “everyone should vote”?

“Journalists”? Maybe you guys heard some old-fart prof back in J-School explain the distinction between journalism and commentary, and how important it is. You should have paid attention.

As for “candidates telling journalists what to ask is not how the media works in this country”, on \*your \*network, yeah, it pretty much is. The irony.

Well, anyway, this is actually a brilliant calculated risk.

Republicans in general, and Trump supporters in particular, get off on perceived persecution. I predict Trump wins this duel.

[QUOTE=Mr. Canteloupe Calves]
What is the economic system of the United States? And for people about to ready to take the test, I’d remind them the answer is free enterprise capitalism.

Oh, so the existing welfare system and regulations and whatnot are all part of “free market capitalism”? Good to know…

Calculated my ass. It’s just his inane gambit whenever he gets the boot from some organization : immediately scream “You can’t fire me, \*\*I \*\*FIRED \*YOU \*FIRST (retroactively) !” at the top of his lungs. I don’t know if anybody’s buying this shit outside of maybe **Starkers** , but for my money he’s not even doing it to be believed in the first place. It’s just his giant uncontrollable ego doing the piloting. _Ils sont trop verts, dit-il, et bons pour les goujâts !_

This is the same guy who, a couple of weeks ago, argued that the Dred Scott decision “still remains to this day the law of the land” in the United States.

I guess that means that blacks can’t be citizens, and slavery is still legal, right Huck? For a guy criticizing the Constitutional knowledge of others, he might want to familiarize himself with the 13th and 14th amendments. They were, after all, only ratified a century and a half ago.

I’m starting to think (in the dark recesses of my mind) I want him to win on merit. If nothing else, it will be amazing to watch the heads of hardcore right-wingers explode when he turns out to be a moderate Democrat once in office.
