What does a “Puerto Rican senator” mean? Is it like a state-senate-like body for the commonwealth? (bothers to look it up) Yep. But Arango is not a Republican, just a yay-Bush-43! anti-gay legislator who likes to post naked pictures of himself on all fours from behind on a gay hookup site. Probably for ironic purposes, because otherwise it makes no sense, a straight conservative anti-gay legislator looking for man lovin’. ---

Well, if you’re going to call yourself a socialist you get to own the history of the word. Sanders should call himself a “social democrat”, but he’s obviously not smart enough to even know what he’s campaigning on. He also seems unaware that the nations he seeks to emulate are nothing like his campaign platform. ---

Abe Lincoln once asked, “How many legs does a dog have if you call its tail a leg?” The answer is FOUR, because, of course, _calling_ a tail a leg doesn’t _make_ it one. This is true even if the tail is doing the calling. The Nazis calling themselves Socialists didn’t make them Socialists, the North Koreans calling themselves Democratic Socialists doesn’t make them Democratic Socialists. Every right wing loon calling Democrats Socialists or Communists on every comments section on every article on the internet, including articles about Bill Cosby, doesn’t make Democrats Socialists or Communists. ---

The whole Republican strategy was well thought out. Gerrymander districts carefully, so that you have many districts that will very probably vote ®, but only just. This allows cramming as many Dem votes into as few districts as possible. You could have, say, four districts with roughly equal numbers of Dems and Reps, but carve it up right, you get one district with a huge Dem majority and three that are just barely, but reliably, ®. Sound thinking, but it relies on solidarity. If ten percent of Republican voters go rogue, the whole thing burns up, falls over and sinks into the swamp, blub, blub, glerp… So its not that they decided to go whole hog for the knuckle-walking vote, its that they have no choice but to depend that the “normal” Republicans will stick to them and _then_ they gave to get the Batshit Caucus on board as well. And pretty much _all_ of them! The plan has no more “wiggle room” than an anaconda’s latest meal. Its not that they expect the batshit to sweep them to victory, its that they can’t get into field goal range without them. “…and their lining up for the field goal, this will be about an eighty yard attempt…” “Trent, you know, if they get this, it will set all kinds of records! In 1986, the Jets…” “They’re lined up, the count…and the center refuses to hike the ball. Demanding a new quarterback who will call for a “Hail Mary” pass…” “Trent, Fredo, in _The Godfather_, used a Hail Mary prayer to catch fish…” ---

I agree with the definition of reality stated above, but perception isn’t reality and it’s political fair game to capitalize on the perception of labels candidates themselves choose.
