That’s a real threat, going forward. If the Dems are totally ascendant, then the ambitious assholes who used to run Republican will pretend to have leftish scruples and stuff. Not an improvement. ---

Oklahoma Republicans attempt a [trio](http://www.slate.com/blogs/outward/2016/01/28/oklahoma_anti_gay_bills_on_conversion_therapy_and_blood_testing_are_crazy.html) of evilly anti-gay bills that have no chance of becoming law. Recent quote from dumbass Maine governor Paul Lepage: “And I’ll tell you, everybody in Maine, we have constitutional carry, load up and get rid of the drug dealers. 'Cause folks, they’re killing our kids.” But of course, he isn’t recommending vigilante justice. Who would take, “go shoot those criminals” as supporting vigilante justice? That’s just crazy talk. Out in my neck of the woods, a committee in the Republican-controlled state Senate has approved [a bill that would repeal anti-discrimination regulations for transgender people](http://www.theolympian.com/news/local/politics-government/article56901863.html#storylink=mainstage). Which is stupid enough on its own, but the stupid is compounded by the fact that the bill is unlikely to pass even in the Republican-controlled Senate, the relevant committee-chairman in the Democratic-controlled House has openly stated that she will not put the bill to a vote, which, the governor has already promised to veto it even if it were to pass, all for the sake of combatting a phantom menace (cisgender men claiming to be women in order to go peeping in the ladies’ room and getting away with it because of transgender rights laws) which nobody can demonstrate has ever actually happened anywhere. This is the state of the Republican party in 2016 - wasting the taxpayers’ time and money on no-chance-in-hell legislation in order to appease the handful of rural bigots who remain breathlessly terrified of Teh Ghey. ---
