On Thursday, Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, alleged that unnamed Republicans tried to get Iran to slow-walk the negotiations over the recent prisoner swap, and to delay the release until the eve of the US Presidential election. I can’t say it’s out of the realm of possibility. On the other hand, it’s pretty thin sourcing. So, I dunno. Not worth starting a new thread over, doesn’t seem to fit anywhere else, here it is. ---

[/quote] I’m not sure why Iran would be interested in that at all. “Hey Iran - wait until after the election. That way, you’re more likely to have a Republican administration, which you totes want, because all the Republican candidates LUHRV Iran _so muches!_” Unless I’m missing something, it doesn’t pass the smell test. ---

Here in Obama world, a Republican faction in congress is sending letters to Iran that the US will probably just trash whatever is agreed to with the next administration. Doesn’t give the Republicans a lot to negotiate with. ---
