Illinois Pubs don’t want to issue birth certificates to single mothers unless said mothers can provide proof of babydaddy’s identity, or else name another family member as the financial supporter. I don’t know if there are others. Texas accepts for voter ID “Texas license to carry a handgun issued by DPS.” It does NOT accept student photo-ID issued by Texas’ government-operated schools. Coincidence? ---

That would cull a lot of un **D** esirable voters based on their evident melatonin levels, because the constabulary are less amenable to those kind of people carrying guns around. ---

Birth certificates are filed in county records. The original is not “issued”, a request for a copy is made, which results in a notarized image or copy made of the original. Presumably, the mother would have to have a copy (or some other kind of record) to obtain WIC/AFDC. By providing the name of a dude, that would theoretically give the state someone to go after to get support money. ---
