Their only goal is some reasonable restrictions like registration and background checks. Banning handguns, for example, a common 1970s gun control tool, seems to be off the table now. ---

Its even worse than that, if I try to follow Adher’s logic it would seem to support the exact opposite of what he’s trying to argue. Following the discussion: \*\*Adher: \*\* The gun rights side has won a long time ago the debate is over. \*\*Superdude: \*\* No they haven’t even though Abortion is never ever going to be banned, pro-lifers still wouldn’t say that pro-choice has won and the debate is over. \*\*Adher: \*\* But pro-lifers take an extreme position of a total ban while gun control advocates only claim to want increased regulation. \*\*Me: \*\*Well then given that unlike a total abortion ban, increased regulation could actually occur, doesn’t that suggest that the gun rights issue is in fact less settled than the abortion rights issue, and so Superdude’s point is even more correct? ---
