> Move over, Sarah Palin, you’re no longer the craziest politician in Alaska. Congressman Don Young has stolen your job.

Don Young has been a pimple on Alaska’s ass for decades. He was originally elected in a special election to replace Nick Begich, who died in a plane crash and who was to Don Young as Einstein is to Elmer Fudd. Young is and always has been an embarrassment to the state, with one of the worst voting and attendance records in Congress. I met this ass clown purely by accident when he was visiting Ft. Yukon (where his wife was from). I refused to shake his hand.

In other stupid news, the Kansas senate has [passed a bill](http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/02/us/outraged-by-kansas-justices-rulings-gop-seeks-to-reshape-court.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=first-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news) that would allow impeachment of their supreme court judges based solely on whether or not the legislature likes their decisions. Seems their panties are all in a wad over the court’s decisions on things like abortion, which are based on, you know, _constitutional law_. Fucking morons rule the day once again.

[Maine Governor Refuses to Swear-in Newly Elected Senator](http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/maine-governor-refuses-swear-newly-elected-senator-38084761)
Has tantrum over unrelated nomination that was rejected.

> LePage spokeswoman Adrienne Bennett says the governor canceled the event in response to a party-line vote Thursday in the Legislature’s labor committee, which turned down LePage’s pick for the unemployment insurance commission. Bennett said Democrats treated the nominee, Steven Webster, “despicably.”

He has an excuse.

> [@](#):

> Bennett said LePage is not refusing to swear-in Deschamault. Maine law gives the governor five business days to certify the results of an election, she said, and LePage doesn’t want to “prematurely” cut off the unsuccessful candidate’s statutory right to request a recount.

Nice one!

I missed this one when it came out a few weeks ago, but it will come as a surprise to no one in the Volunteer state that [the Tennessee legislature was named the Most Conservative in the country](http://knoxblogs.com/humphreyhill/2016/03/06/26142/) by the Conservative Political Action Conference earlier this month. So… yay us, I guess. I wonder what put us over the top - maybe because we rank 40th in overall poverty rate in the country? Or 43rd in income equality? But at least I can still bring my gun into bars and public parks.

Why does the Governor have to swear in legislators?

Today’s list:

It is fewer regulations. Rather than 50 different laws, there will be just one. One Law To Rule Them All.

Mississippi is on a fucking roll: [Mississippi lawmakers approve the “Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act.”](http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/04/01/472669895/heres-why-mississippis-religious-freedom-bill-is-so-controversial) Bet you can’t guess what it does.

> [@](#):
>
> Here’s Section 2, in its entirety:
>
> _The sincerely held religious beliefs or moral convictions protected by this act are the belief or conviction that:
> (a) Marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman;
> (b) Sexual relations are properly reserved to such a marriage; and
> (c) Male (man) or female (woman) refer to an individual’s immutable biological sex as objectively determined by anatomy and genetics at time of birth._
>
> The bill then defines all the actions that a Mississippi resident could take — with one of those moral convictions as a reason — with the guarantee that the state government won’t punish him or retaliate against him.

Stay classy, Mississippi.
