The 18 cent gas tax will expire in 2 months. It is how road repair is financed. Nordquist and many other Repubs will try to keep it from being renewed. More jobs down the drain . Loverly. Goldman is moving over 1000 jobs abroad and laying off educated Americans. Goldman is in the midst of making enormous profits. Yep, giving money to those on top just creates so many jobs. ---

So following this article from [the Onion](http://www.theonion.com/articles/obama-turns-50-despite-republican-opposition%2C21061/), which was amusing, comes this actual article from [the Fox News website](http://nation.foxnews.com/president-obama/2011/08/05/obama-parties-chris-rock-jay-z-and-whoopi-while-rome-burns), which was less amusing. Apparently, turning 50 isn’t a time to celebrate and Obama should have at least given some of those caterers permanent jobs. Next up on Fox News: Obama’s bowel movement not big enough to spur growth in hurting septic industry ---

Something about Obama’s Hip-Hop BBQ? It mentions BBQ chicken and ribs? Oh, I think I can read it now: it says “The President’s Near!” Thanks, Fox! ---

But no, it was real. So a day after the S&P downgrades the US debt, some of the GOP candidates decide to slam Obama because, again, in their world, the GOP hasn’t been obstructing the raising of the debt celing, politicizing a routine process, holding our credit rating hostage, and caving to the shitheads who thinks that a sex act was a good name for a political group. As if she was born yesterday and the previous 13 billion years of the universe did not happen, Michele “Penis Shriveler” Bachmann dares to call out Obama of all people and accuse him of “destroying the foundations of the US economy”. There is a level of anger that I can give that would be appropriate. But things such as that, like meteors, are only useful in small doses, to make an emphatic point, an attention grabber due to the rarity in which it happens. My anger at the GOP has been sustained at that level for far too long than it is healthy. That entire party with few exceptions are absolute scum, concerned with their own pocketbooks and their own special way of oppressing women, minorities, the poor…basically anyone who isn’t a rich white landowner, that they would throw all of us under the bus to be crushed if it means they can make one single dime in profit. Reasonable Republicans: Get your fucking house in order you jackasses. You should be just as pissed as I am that your party has been hijacked by literal crazy people. ---

A loooonnnngggg time ago there was a cartoon in National Lampoon with the caption “An Irish Jig.” The drawing was, IIRC, a couple leprechauns–one was black. I never got it until years later when I made the connection. Bonus points if anyone else remembers it (it would have been mid to late eighties, I think), and deluxe bonus points if there’s a link.
