Yeah, at one time, but the actual wording isn’t the point, there are all kinds of things people commonly say that literally have violent connotations but commonly don’t, as in “Hillary kicked his ass in the debate”. As for the phrase itself, I dimly recall “snatch a knot” as referring to ropes, a cowboy thing for _quickly_ creating a sturdy knot. Don’t think I learned it in Texas, maybe from Louis Lamour books riding the Greyhound… Akin to “tying a knot is his tail”. ---
