Paul Ryan flew down to the border in a helicopter and all we got was a stupid video on how we need the Wall. But his Democratic opponent in the next election replied, “Speaker Ryan can just ask me what it’s like to get behind an M60 while defending our country in a chopper. Eh, I give this only a “2” on the Brooks Cluelessly Offensive Index. His point was that for the ancient Greeks, “manliness” meant being a _mensch_ – conscientious, righteous, honorable, gracious, kind – and that the short-fingered vulgarian and his Niebelung horde were preceisely the opposite of that. I thought yesterday that Confucius and his gang would have had a few good points to make along those lines, but we can’t expect Brooks to be familiar with anything outside the Western Canon. ---
