Has anyone ever asked him what he would call it if our soldiers were captured by the enemy and subjected to the same type of treatment?

They prefer soldiers that don’t get captured, so that should be OK.

Caitlyn Jenner is shocked - [shocked, I tell you!](https://www.rawstory.com/2018/05/trump-supporter-caitlyn-jenner-now-regretful-gives-speech-trans-rights-set-back-20-years/) - to find out that the Trump administration is rolling back legal protections for transgendered people.

Keep in mind this is the woman who thought that _Ted Cruz_ would be willing to have her and her girls in the administration advising on LBGT policy.

> Of course ‘Obama born in Kenya’ was a flat-out lie, too, but it at least had the under-girding of ‘his father actually is a Kenyan’ behind it. McCain is well known not only for _not_ talking under torture, but for refusing to accept an early release (offered because of the PR possibilities involved in freeing an admiral’s son), because his fellow-prisoners were not offered the same.
>
> This is a new landmark in vile conduct for the right.

I agree with most of this but, Nitpick, this is nothing new for America’s right-wing liars. In 2000 McCain was attacked for having a black love-child — did this McCain bastard ever turn up?

And in 2004, when a genuine war hero (Kerry) was running for President against a genuine shirker (Bush), exit polls make it clear that Kerry lost because of “doubts about his military service.” :smack: These doubters had _ **not** _ carefully studied the Dan Rather hoax and concluded that if Karl Rove were smart enough for that set-up, he probably also knew how to defeat Al-Qaeda; they were just worker bees who’d heard FoxNews in the background droning the same lies on and on and on until a vague “doubt” sunk in.

ETA: Trump and the GOP know their base well. They even brag about inventing the concept of “Alternate Facts”: Republicans and Trumpists then nod their heads in admiration. Truthiness is for libtards.

The push polling was actually referring to his adopted Bangladeshi daughter, trying to insinuate there was interracial hanky-panky going on that resulted in her. This was, incidentally, Karl Rove’s brainchild for the 2000 South Carolina presidential primary.

After writing the post (that you quoted) I found evidence that the ‘torture worked on McCain’ lie is _not_ a new one, but was employed as a tool to get rid of him in the 2008 primaries. Guess the ‘black child’ thing from 2000 was considered ineffective by 2008. Anyway, here’s the 2008 lie about torture, as examined by PolitiFact:

> [@](#):
>
> In an echo of the attacks from the 2000 South Carolina primary that dealt a critical blow to Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign, a new flyer says the Arizona senator is a traitor.
> It says that when he was a POW, McCain was a “Hanoi Hilton songbird” who collaborated with the enemy.
> But it provides scant evidence to back up this claim and it is strongly contradicted by many other accounts reviewed by PolitiFact: interviews with other POWs, an author who has written a McCain biography and the senator’s own accounts.
> Robert Timberg, author of John McCain: An American Odyssey , who has interviewed many POWs who served with McCain, said there’s no evidence that he ever collaborated with the North Vietnamese. … Because of the seriousness of the charge, the utter absence of evidence and the clear intention to harm McCain just days before a critical Republican primary, we find this claim to be Pants on Fire wrong.

Note that both the 2000 lie and the 2008 lie were employed in _primaries_–not in the general elections. Reasonable people might conclude that some Republicans have no problem spreading vile lies in the service of winning primary elections.

The problem with cutting ties on the person who lied about McCain is that they didn’t cut ties with Trump when he attacked McCain for being caught.

I suspect it had more to do with seeing another advertiser backlash looming after both right and left expressed outrage at the comment. FoxNews is running out of shows they haven’t lost advertising revenue on after someone associated with the show said something staggeringly offensive, and they needed to act fast to avoid another hit to the bottom line.

Actually, their bottom line isn’t being hurt much.
Most of the advertisers have just specified that they don’t want their ads run on whatever show, so the network just schedules them at another time. They still get paid for them. But it can make that particular show a money-loser, if they can’t find other advertisers to replace those who move.

Maybe if this keeps up, eventually there will be no non-boycotted Fox News shows to move advertisers to. But unlikely – there are lots of right-wingers who own companies that advertise.

She’s got to keep ratcheting up her rhetoric or no one will pay attention to her. It will hopefully lead to an epic crash-and-burn, one that costs her even more than the $3,000,000 she is currently worth.
