Any overview of Selma would show the use of police dogs. No such weaponized canines were involved in The Leader’s valiant defense of the border from violent ruffians and diapered desperadoes. ---

I was musing on this just the other day: Remember Operation Jade Helm? The rabid right-wing (including Alex Jones) were convinced that a normal military training exercise was the onset of a totalitarian takeover of Texas and that local militias would be wiped out (Jones actually claimed “Helm” stood for “Help Eradicate Local Militias”) and vacant Walmarts would be used either as internment camps or to smuggle in thousands of illegal immigrants yadda yadda yadda, and the right-wing militias flocked to Texas claiming that they were there to defend the Constitution against fascism. A few years later and the President they like illegally gives the same military the power to summarily execute unarmed civilians on US soil for the commission of a misdemeanor which, if Jade Helm freaked them out, ought to have them crapping their pants. And the right-wing militia response has been “Neat! Can we play too?” Those fuckers may pretend that they’re the bulwark against fascism but if and when it comes to America they’ll be smiling and holding the door open for it as long as they get to keep their guns and shoot a few “bad guys”. ---

Isn’t Dershowitz basically complaining about the exact same thing that was the prima facie cause of Clinton’s impeachment? If there hadn’t been a Starr investigation (which was about 1000x more wide-ranging and, eventually, off-purpose than Mueller’s investigation), Clinton wouldn’t have committed the perjury about not having sex with Monica Lewinsky. ---
