The Sheriff of Sacramento County is a right winger who ran for Congress (and lost) against the incumbent Congressman. He is still Sheriff, unfortunately. He recently ordered the former City Chief of Police out of his offices because the ex-Chief was hired by the County Board of Supervisors to investigate the Sheriff’s offices and their interactions with the public. When it comes to H.R. 1 maybe McConnell is on to something. After all, if anybody knows a thing or two about a power grab, it’s him.
