John Kerry testified before a House committee investigating climate change, and Congressman Thomas Massie commented that, since Kerry’s degree is in Political Science, he really doesn’t have a degree in science, so it’s appropriate that somebody with a degree in a pseudoscience would be pushing pseudoscience.

He wrestled that pig of a joke into submission and made it squeal. He probably practiced that burn in the mirror all morning before mumbling it out, fucking it up, and then getting his ass handed back to him by an adult in the room.

Kerry: Are you serious? I mean, this is really … happening here?

also:

Kerry: Mr. Chairman, this is just not a serious conversation.

Good on Kerry for pointing out the obvious.

And you would be correct. There’s some kind of tenuous reasoning in the suit for filing in Virginia (I can’t remember what it was right now, and Nunes isn’t worth the effort to look it up), but every opinion I’ve heard or read says that it’s incredibly thin, and that even without California’s anti-SLAAP provisions, Nunes might still be on the hook for opponent’s legal costs, given how ridiculous this lawsuit is.

The Republican party is filled with fucking morons! I am shocked when I watch things like this. Next they’ll be saying the solution to climate change is to have more babies. :smack: And dumbshits from Utah will think it’s the best idea, like ever!

[protect our portfolios](https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/paulmcleod/republicans-warn-drug-companies-oversight-investigation)

\*Republicans on the House Oversight Committee sent letters to a dozen CEOs of major drug companies warning that information they provide to the committee could be leaked to the public by Democratic chair Elijah Cummings in an effort to tank their stock prices.

Cummings requested information from [12 drug companies](https://oversight.house.gov/sites/democrats.oversight.house.gov/files/documents/_Drug%20Price%20Investigation%20Letters%20Recipients.pdf) … in January as part of a broad investigation into how the industry sets prescription drug prices.

(House Freedom Caucus members) write that Cummings is seeking sensitive information “that would likely harm the competitiveness of your company if disclosed publicly.” They then accuse Cummings of “releasing cherry-picked excerpts from a highly sensitive closed-door interview” conducted in an investigation into White House security clearances. “This is not the first time he has released sensitive information unilaterally,” says the letter. The authors say they “feel obliged to alert” the drug companies of Cummings’ actions.\*

Current contender for the title of “Dumb as Louie Gohmert,” Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz, has [introduced the PENCIL Resolution](https://thehill.com/homenews/house/438386-gaetz-introduces-pencil-resolution-to-oust-schiff-from-house-intel), which calls for Rep. Adam Schiff to be removed as Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, and to revoke his security clearances. From the linked article:

> [@](#):
>
> The proposal claims that Schiff “can no longer be trusted by his colleagues in Congress or the American people” and that he “has repeatedly slandered President Donald J. Trump by falsely claiming he colluded with Russia to win the presidency.”

Please note the title of the resolution, clearly a reference to one of Trump’s favorite nicknames for Rep. Schiff.

Massie has 2 degrees from MIT, and I see his line of questioning more troll-like than moronic (though there is undoubtedly some overlap there).

Good grief. His publicly stating political science is “pseudo science” should be enough for MIT to revoke any degrees they’ve conferred on him.

Because I just seem to like going around and finding things that make me despair for the human race and then share them to depress everyone else, here’s a sad little article about Fox News Derangement Syndrome:

> **[What I’ve Learned From People Whose Loved Ones Were Transformed by Fox News](https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/04/i-gathered-stories-of-people-transformed-by-fox-news.html)**
>
> I’ve been collecting stories from people who feel as though their loved ones were changed by Fox News. They don’t have happy endings.

> [@](#):
>
> No matter where the stories came from they all featured a few familiar beats: A loved one seemed to have changed over time. Maybe that person was already somewhat conservative to start. Maybe they were apolitical. But at one point or another, they sat down in front of Fox News, found some kind of deep, addictive comfort in the anger and paranoia, and became a different person — someone difficult, if not impossible, to spend time with. The fallout led to failed marriages and estranged parental relationships. For at least one person, it marks the final memory he’ll ever have of his father: “When I found my dad dead in his armchair, fucking Fox News was on the TV,” this reader told me. “It’s likely the last thing he saw. I hate what that channel and conservative talk radio did to my funny, compassionate dad. He spent the last years of his life increasingly angry, bigoted, and paranoid.”

Holy Mary mother of Christ! Republicans are barely even hiding the fact that they have pure and utter contempt for democracy these days:

From the article in HuffPo:

> The bill would allow officials to impose a fine of $150 to $2,000 on any group that turns in at least 100 “deficient” voter registration applications in a single county. A group that turns in more than 500 “deficient” applications could be fined up to $10,000.
