[Arizona governor Douchey is mad at Nike](https://www.abc15.com/sports/governor-ducey-to-withdraw-nike-az-plant-incentives-amid-betsy-ross-colin-kaepernick-controversy) because they won’t make Betsy Ross shoes. So he’s pulling all incentives to have Nike build a plant in Arizona. Goodbye 500 jobs. Eh, they’d probably just go to Messikins, eh, guvnuh, amirite? Build that wall! Maganuts! ---

Uh, Ted, I don’t mean to disturb your well-thought out outrage, but, if you don’t mind, I’d like to point out just one fact, a simple one, really. Are you ready? I don’t think so. Perhaps you should sit down for a moment. Oh, and shutting the fuck up might help, too. Anyway, here’s the fact: the flag of the United States of America has fifty stars, you fucking moron. Thanks for listening. Now go rot somewhere. Cruz and these idiots protesting Nike’s decision are the same, and I hesitate to use this word to describe them, quality of morons who complained about Coca-Cola running an advertisement with people singing “America the Beautiful” in different languages. Said morons freaked out about the national anthem being sung in any language other than English. ---

Any person who respects the flag would know it’s not appropriate to _wear_ it, especially on a part of your clothing that’s going to get dirty and stained. ---

Another vote for America the Beautiful over SSB. Singablity aside, it doesn’t help that the first verse of the SSB is just two questions (the first one being a long and meandering one), both starting with “O say”, whereas AtB is just lovely. I’m even willing to overlook the nod to ceremonial deism. Musically I think the Russians have it right. The words are the usual “we will triumph over adversity and our foes, yadda yadda yadda” jingoistic bumf you get in the SSB and La Marseillaise and so forth, but the music is a real rouser. ---

I love the Russian national anthem. I’m talking about the melody; I don’t know what the words are. I got familiar with it during my teens when it was played many times during the Olympics when Russian athletes were awarded gold medals. Then after the fall of the Soviet Union, you didn’t hear it any more. But now it’s back and just as goosebumpy as before. It’s solemn, somber, a little sad…like me.
