I meant that Lindsey’s racist pandering looks like trying to prop himself up in front of Trump supporters for a possible challenge. While he’s an asshole, he’s never struck me as a race baiting asshole before (in fact, Wikipedia has a quote of his from 2000 where he states that his party’s zero tolerance approach to illegal immigrants is not realistic and people who suggest it are wrong). And it’s suspicious to me that he’s backing Trump now, when he was very openly against Trump in 2016 (again, Wiki has a quote of his saying the GOP would be better off losing without Trump than winning with him) ---

Could be that, or it could be he thinks he’s incorrectly assessed his South Carolina constituency based on how they’re responding to Trump’s encouragement, and he’s simply recalibrating his public positions to align with theirs. It’s all bullshit either way, of course. ---

It seems that he’s laying the groundwork for people to be “okay” with being uncomfortable living near or working with people with different skin color or backgrounds.
