Yeah. Was somebody able to help Senator Cornyn understand that all the previous Julys (and Junes and Augusts) were summer too? Republicans in general really seem to have a problem understanding the distinction between season and climate. ---

That’s Republican 101. Same thing with Trump. His followers say that he’s only kidding when someone calls out the bullshit, but the original hope was to plant another seed of stupidity in the “minds” of the (many) dumber supporters. ---

Wasn’t sure where to put this, but it’s too fun to pass up. The New York Times has put together something called the [1619 Project](https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/08/14/magazine/1619-america-slavery.html), to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first black slaves in the British American colonies, and to recognize the central importance of the institution of slavery in the history of the United States. It’s an excellent piece of work.
