Might not be the best turn of phrase, and yes, it might be true, but Occam’s Razor says that he’s simply asserting that Schiff is in charge of the kangaroo court, and the statement _probably_ isn’t to be taken literally. ---

In other situations, I’ve used similar wordplay, not meant to be taken literally. Many of us want to believe the worst about the Gaetz’ of the world (and yet too often they surprise us by being even worse than we believed), but I think the statement a not-so-clever play on words. I’m not saying I am 100% sure and right. I’m just not immediately jumping to the conclusion that paints Gaetz in the worst light (knowing nothing else about him, and not really caring enough about him to find out more). ---

The assessor has for years run an adoption law practice in Mesa, which involves bringing women from the Marshall Islands to the U.S. to give birth. Their babies have been placed for adoption with U.S. parents. Petersen is accused in the indictment of illegally obtaining services from Arizona’s Medicaid system for the women, falsely claiming the women are Arizona residents. He also is accused of violating a compact between the U.S. and the Marshall Islands. This only shows the speaker has a sense of humor you don’t find funny. I seriously doubt Gaetz doesn’t know who Captain Kangaroo is. He was being humorous, and humor doesn’t have to follow logic. It’s like when the Master said “If ignorance were Corn Flakes, you’d be General Mills.” The pedantic immediately thinks “but Corn Flakes are made by Kellogg’s.” Is a statement meant to be absurd really worth correcting?
