Unless he railed against drug addicts in his campaign or used public funds to pay for his drugs or something, I kinda have to put this one in the “Good Republican Idea of the Day” column. I wish him peace and recovery. ---

I have no idea what interventions were done with Princess Diana. I just want to point out that, not only was the CPAC guy not involved in her care, he’s not a trauma specialist either. He’s an orthopedic surgeon. He knows way more about medicine that I do, certainly. But the MD after his name doesn’t make him an expert in every discipline. ---

As I recall from hearing it on TV at the time, the practice of French EMTs is to try to stabilize patients at the scene instead of rushing them to the nearest trauma center. However, Diana had a ruptured aorta (she was in the back seat, but she wasn’t wearing her seatbelt) … so maybe not the best idea in the world. In the US, she would have been rushed to the hospital. Would that have saved her? Who knows? Anyone else who remembers listening in complete shock to Peter Jennings as he reported this, please correct me.
