But since it looks like that what they feared might in fact happen, some of them - perhaps, maybe - might peel off, and Brad Parscale has to be the guy to periodically deliver that bad news. What the Trumpists cannot afford to do is to fail to energize their radical base. They need fresh meat to chew on once in a while and the possibility of putting the nation’s first and only black president in a cage is probably giving some of his voters erections. ---

It’s not just Trump; the entire Republican party is beginning to buy into the idea that they need an excuse for losing in 2020 - if they lose, they need someone to blame for it.
