You know I always thought that the portrayals of people from the south as uneducated redneck idiots was just a cheap media inspired stereotype. I never guessed that people really talked like this, at least not elected officials. I was particularly taken aback when he promoted of the idea that Roe v. Wade justified cock fighting.

I don’t…I…
I’m at a loss. I mean a complete loss. I have no clue what it is he’s saying. So if I promise not to abort a baby I get a chicken? Because that’s really the only thing I could parse from that.

New bill (sponsored by the (R)s, yes I double-checked.
Not only should employers be free of onerous requirements to cover employee’s BCPs, but they should be able to fire employees based upon their purchasing such BCPs out of pocket. I shit you not…

Well, its all about small government, you see. There was a provision in the bill that forbade an employer from such actions. So, really, all they did was take that provision out, thus eliminating one more onerous burden on our job providers. Surely you don’t want the government intruding on a decision between you, your God, your doctor, and your boss?
It’s not like your boss owns you, its much more like a lease.

Do you think we could goad one of the Republican candidates into advocating for the repeal of the Family and Medical Leave Act? Seems like that would be a thorn in the side of job creators, and a natural target for their ire. They wouldn’t know what hit them when the blowback from that vaporized their campaigns.

I love how his heart breaks for delivering dead pigs, but, barely a semi-colon later, he’s yapping about hog hunting and the nobility of chicken fighters.
But the scary thing … the holy bible is the owner’s manual for life? It’s almost like he doesn’t give a shit that there are people in this country who aren’t Christians. That couldn’t be, could it?

Are these Republicans on drugs? This guy is Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, presumably a high-ranking position.
Perhaps he does have a way with words though. After mentioning a “salt-of-the-earth people” who promised something England never expected in a hundred years – to give up all his fighting chickens “when those folks down there quit killing babies” – he says “If that don’t put it in perspective for you, real quick, your bread ain’t gonna rise, eggs ain’t gonna cook.”
(I am confused why this was so unexpected from salt-of-the-earth people. Killing babies is important, but England thought raising fighting cocks is much more important, at least for salty people?)

Recheck that link. The protection was already in law. This provision is strictly there to remove the protection. On state level, they are making it allowable to fire for use of birth control, or just having insurance that covers birth control:

Unbelievable. You know, when this whole birth control flap broke a couple of weeks ago I joked that the next step would be a law allowing religious employers to discriminate against employees that pay out of pocket because since they are the ones paying the salary or wage, they would be morally paying for the evil birth control by proxy. I thought it was just a joke at the time, taking the slippery slope to a logical extreme. Consider me flabbergasted.
