# Stupid Republican idea of the day

I had about the same experience, **'luci** , but for me it was two lines in _The End_:
the killer awoke before dawn
he put his boots on
Cracked me right up and I’ve never been able to listen to Morrison without laughing at how terrible his lyrics are since. I still think the Doors’ music is great, tho; it’s just the lyrics that make me laugh.

Strange Days was the second album I ever bought. I wondered if my parents worried that their virginal nerdy 14 year old was obsessed with sex & death…they were probably just laughing hysterically.
(I can still recite Horse Latitudes from memory. Oddly, nobody has ever asked me to.)

This way, a Christian organization can refuse to hire someone after seeing that their Muslim or atheist on their Facebook, but just say it’s because they didn’t meet the requirements…or they say some “disturbing” pictures, even if every single one is more G rated than a Disney movie.

His lyrics are sophomoric, as in “written by a sophomore.” The world is a better place because he transferred to another school after the new class did _Prufrock._

Well, it was bad news for Michigan, but good news for Wisconsin. When his dad was running for governor of Michigan, it was a problem. For the presidency, it’s a push. It’s still slightly tone deaf, but it’s not “I like to fire people” bad.
It raises other issues, (companies treating workers as disposable, playing states against one another to the benefit of the company, etc.), but those don’t make for such easy sound bites.

There are some [astounding stories out there](http://www.businessinsider.com/empoyers-ask-for-facebook-password-2012-3) about companies demanding your login information so they can rummage around in your personal space.
Are you fucking kidding me? Over my dead body! That’s just unbelievable.
See, the GOP only gives a shit about “intrusion” when it’s government allegedly doing it. When their Big Business cronies do it, it’s for the Greater Good don’tchaknow.

So this isn’t exactly an _idea_, really, but this is the best thread for this.
Let’s play a guessing game. What could Santorum have possibly begun to say in [this video](http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=nzyvo8SKa0M#t=2065s) that _wasn’t_ ‘nigger’? Surely an esteemed presidential candidate would never let such racism slip off his tongue. It must have been something else, right?
If the video doesn’t jump to the right spot, it starts at 34:25. And for those of you unable to load Youtube links, here’s a possible transcript:“We know the candidate Barack Obama, what he was like: the anti-war government nig- uh, ff, the, uh, America was a source for division around the world.”

Damn. It’s hard to think of what other word he could have been headed for, isn’t it? OTOH, when I slid the bar back a bit to replay it, I overshot and heard him say “Ovama”, so maybe he was just tongue-tangling, maybe started to spout some mangled mash-up of idunnowhat, heard what it sounded like in mid-blurt and caught himself.
But yeh, suggestive to say the least.

I think Santorum is a disgusting, pond scummy human being but I only get “insane right wing douche who wants his religion to be privleged and the rich to get richer at all costs”, not real strong “racist” vibes from him unlike the Newtster. It’s hard as hell to imagine what else that slip of the tongue could be, but I really doubt he throws around even the N word at home.
He’s as vile as vile can be, but just a different flavor from what I’ve seen.
