According to the wiki, they also asked their local weather service for a prognosis and sold planes to the precursor to the air force. Relying on government handouts!

Louie Louie “woh-oh we gotta” Gohmert is [at it again](http://www.mediaite.com/online/rep-louie-gohmert-suggests-aurora-theater-shooting-result-of-ongoing-attacks-on-judeo-christan-beliefs/), claiming the Colorado shooting was due to all those attacks on Judeo-Christian values (which apparently include Batman in some way):

> [@](#):
>
> “You know what really gets me, as a Christian, is to see the ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and then some senseless crazy act of a derelict takes place,” Rep. Gohmert lamented.
>
> Istook then reportedly interrupted to clarify for the audience that the motivations of alleged Aurora gunman James Holmes remains unknown. Rep. Gohmert conceded that fact but reportedly went on to suggest the shootings were “a terrorist act” that could have been avoided if the country hadn’t lost its faith in God."

If only we’d prayed more, this would never have happened.

But wait - it’s not just God we need:

> [@](#):
>
> “People say […] where was God in all of this?” the congressman said. “We’ve threatened high school graduation participations, if they use God’s name, they’re going to be jailed […] I mean that kind of stuff. Where was God? What have we done with God? We don’t want him around. I kind of like his protective hand being present.”
>
> Rep. Gohmert also said the tragedy possibly could have been avoided if someone else in the movie theater had been carrying a gun and was able to take down the shooter. Colorado law allows for the concealed carry of a firearm. “It does make me wonder: With all those people in the theater, was there nobody that was carrying a gun that could have stopped this guy more quickly?” he asked.

So we need God’s Protective Hand\* AND concealed firearms to keep us safe. Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

And of course those darned atheists have a [history of suicide too](http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/07/20/554761/tea-party-congressman-links-colorado-shooting-to-attacks-on-christianity/):

>
> GOHMERT: Well, it’s always a problem and there are some people who require medication … But you know, I might mention something else that hadn’t been public yet. Most of us that follow the military, love the military know that we have had an extraordinary increase in suicide rates in the military and it’s just heartbreaking … There was a study commissioned, 6,000 personal of index profiles and what they found, and I don’t ‘know if they’ll make it public…but all of the people who have committed suicide within their two percent studied, were part of their 2 percent most atheistic members of the military. We’ve lost our faith.

Note - not just atheists but MOST atheistic. Apparently they’ve got a sliding scale now.

Hopefully on one of these mass murder rampages, the NRA gets its wish and there are three or four fully armed “Christian” folks in the viewing audience when the firing starts. And they get the entire crowd in a cross fire and top the Virginia Tech record of a measly 32 dead.

For the NRA 12 dead is just another ho hum day.

People have pointed out again and again that there were armed police officers around Gabrielle Giffords when she was shot. Lots of good they did. Blazing away in crowded areas might be for amateurs, but not trained officers.

I suppose it is a nice fantasy for all the budding Barney Fifes of this world.

**Bucky** , I don’t think that word “hopefully” means what you think it means. Unless you really do hope to see another mass shooting with a massive fatality count, in which case you’re using the word right, but I disagree with this desire.

Can we wait a few days this time before we start calling gun rights people callous and deranged, and gun control advocates totalitarianists and fear mongers?

I was being ironic. Opposing the NRA has become a hopeless task, even with all the dead, so irony is about all that’s left. Sometimes I get the feeling the NRA is actually happy about these events.

Let me be clear. If I were in charge, the USA would have a UK or Japan type gun policy. We’d still have murders, but they’d be cut down by more than two thirds as would suicides.

As it is, the second amendment is about the only bit of the Bill of Rights still in force.

If the person who made the tweet simply wasn’t aware of the incident, you really can’t blame him or her for this.

The part that got me was when she said “You know, you should really look at where Mitt has led his life, and where he’s been financially.” [Cite](http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0712/78711.html#ixzz21EwFHsQW).

Yes, dearie, that’s absolutely true. We agree completely. Can we see the tax returns now so we can do just that?

Darrell Issa (R-Crazyville), with his laser-like focus on jobs, jobs, jobs, “is floating legislation that would name most U.S. coastal waters after former President Ronald Reagan.” I wonder if he means the Real Ronald Reagan, the eleven-time-tax-increasing, union president guy, or the New-and-Improved-Righty Ronald Reagan who walked on water while ending taxes and creating Valhalla on Earth for the “Job Creators.”

A link to an article in The Hill is contained in the Daily Kos [article](http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/07/21/1112154/-Darrell-Issa-proposes-renaming-the-ocean-after-Ronald-Reagan).
