The linked story clearly states that _Pelosi had nothing to do with the proposed change,_ but in recounting the story, the false take is repeated. With enough repetitions, it becomes accepted truth. The only solution is to denounce lies as lies every time, and never to buy into the false meme, even if it’s easy shorthand. ---

Not to say that some Democrats don’t also have problems keeping their parts inside their pants around inappropriate persons, but please [don’t talk about it in front of a live mike](http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-duvall10-2009sep10,0,2300584.story). Especially when you’ve staked your reputation on being a “family values” candidate. I mean, really – not just cheating on your wife, but cheating on your mistress, too? I also love how his public “apology” apologizes only for the comments, not for the affairs. ---

The really serious (and probably illegal) thing about this is that both of his mistresses were lobbyists and he was apparently exchanging legislative favors for sex. ---

I’d say that bringing handmade signs, birther letters, and yelling “Liar!” at a Presidential address to Congress counts as a pretty stupid idea of the day. ---

Obama wasn’t vetted? There’s chilling overtones of _beware unpatriotic thoughts_! His supporters know there’s a load of racists out there looking for any excuse (Not all of them Republicans: Hillary can put up a dirty fight when she wants to) and the Rebuplicans have shifted so far the raving right that they’d question Joe McCarthy’s patriotism. Their guy comes from the least American of the states way out in the Pacific with more links there than to the mainland. Both his father and stepfather are foreign, he has spent part of his childhood at school under a dictator who was no great friend of the USA and he bears a Muslim name.
