I almost want to say it’s a typical micro-manager viewpoint. If the workers aren’t doing something that immediately creates value it’s considered slacking. It fails to take into account the beauty of actually thinking, considering and learning new things. Hell Steve Covey had whole chapters about “sharpening the saw” so the failure isn’t necessarily a republican one.

Fox News anchors blasts Obama for meeting with a pirate. I think they were serious, at least two of the three times that it was mentioned on-air:

> [@](#):
>
> The White House doesn’t have the time to meet with the prime minister of Israel, but this pirate got a sit-down in the Oval Office yesterday.

> [@](#):
>
> “Fox & Friends” also showed the picture, along with others of the president meeting with Jay-Z and Beyonce and appearing on David Letterman’s “Late Show” on Tuesday. The headline was “Too busy for Israel” and Fox also showed twin pictures of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and an empty chair.

> [@](#):
>
> Here’s a quick look at what President Obama is up to, making sure he didn’t forget to mark International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

So, the third reference does seem to be in jest… but the first two?

This is all in response to a [joke photo](http://news.yahoo.com/joke-photo-fox-suggests-obama-met-pirate-194154000.html) taken three years ago with Obama talking to a man with an eye patch, hook for a hand, fake goatee, and a stuffed parrot on his shoulder.

They apparently _were_ serious, because they tweeted a correction. Interesting how they broadcast an error _three times_ but only tweet the correction - as though anyone other than fact checkers is following their Twitter feed.

Speaking of terrific Republican ideas:

I just got a letter from Mitt Romney (on his actual stationery, _really_) in which he describes me (by name!) as being a leading member of the Republican Party (which of course means I should send in at least $250).

This came as a shock since I’ve always been a registered Democrat (except for maybe an open primary or two to mess with the GOP) and never voted for a Republican in the general election (except for Supreme Court justice once and, I think, auditor because I liked her name).

Have I suddenly morphed into a Republican? (checks self in mirror, no horns or tail).

Nope. Sorry Mitt, better hit up the Koch Bros. for another loan.

My 83 year old Father got one of those and believed it was an actual personal letter. Sent him $1000.

Next, Romney’s team is going to send people around to “fix” old people’s roofs, or resurface their driveways. All they have to do is give Romney $5000 in cash up front. They’ll even drive grandma to the bank to withdraw her savings…

That Romney’s a prince among men. Unfortunately he’s a little low on cash. It’s all tied up in the Cayman Islands and he can’t get it out. But if you wire him the transaction fees, he’ll be sure to share his windfall with you once he becomes president of Nigeria. Or the US. Whichever.

[Ted Strickland](http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2012/09/17/strickland-sends-letter-to-romney/), I think, tops that.

So, I’m wondering why he needs the money. Maybe his actual campaign wasn’t rolling in it, but the outside groups, Rove, the Kock Brothers, guys like that, they were supposed to have gathered a buttload of money to oust Obama. A double buttload. Why would he worry with all of that money behind him?

Because maybe it isn’t? Maybe Daddy Whorebucks decided to cut his losses, spend the money downticket in hopes of keeping an obstructive Congress. Why piss away 200 million dollars on Romney when you can spend it on real Americans like Alan West and Michelle Bachman?

So Mitt Romney admits this week he’s not qualified to become president.

In response to criticism of his released previous tax return he told us:
If I had paid more taxes then are legally due, I don’t think I’d be qualified to become president.
This week he released tax returns in which he did not take his maximum deductions.

He said this in California. It’s not recorded whether his audience laughed at the delicious irony of insulting your ATM machine.
