I had a friend in high school who had a D&C to remove a teratoma. Which is totally normal. Maybe Akin heard about that kind of thing and scrambled it. I suppose an unscrupulous OB/GYN could prescribe a D&C for no good reason just for the billing, and I suppose in Todd Akin’s delusions, this could be a “common practice” to drive up health care costs. I can see how he might have gotten there. Conspiracy-theory wacko, then? ---
